Bedford College hosted a prestigious Chef of the Year cook off competition in conjunction with The Milton Keynes Food and Leisure Awards.
The event on April 5th saw eight of the region’s top chefs engaged in a cook-off in the college’s hospitality training suite and was judged by six industry professionals including Phil Fanning from Paris House in Bedfordshire.
They had to make starters from a mystery box of food, main courses of their choice, and desserts dating back to the 1960’s.
Mark Lewis, Head of Hospitality at Bedford College said:
“This is a restaurant standard competition with chefs cooking under pressure, and the results determined by professional judges,” explained Mark,
“It is a great showcase for our trainee chefs to see just how high standards can be in the restaurant industry today. We aspire to prepare our hospitality staff for the very best in the business.”
The event is part of Milton Keynes Food and Leisure Awards run by Steven Dryden-Hall, a former colleague of Mark.
Bedford College offers a wide range of hospitality courses from part-time to full-time with associated work experience and progression on to degree-level professional management.
