You need an enthusiasm for the course and industry sector you wish to pursue.  At the same time, you must commit yourself to a serious training and study programme.

To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must either be employed on a full-time contract by an employer willing to support your training or have an offer of employment as an apprentice. Bedford College can help you find a job role with an employer if you don’t already have one.

Benefits and information
As a Bedford College apprentice you’ll get paid and gain valuable work experience while you train in one of a number of commercial and/or industry professions.

Most apprenticeships take between one and four years to complete, following which there will be opportunities to progress your career by undertaking further qualifications. Many of our Intermediate apprentices progress to a Level 3 Advanced apprenticeship after completing the Intermediate at Level 2. We are also now offering Level 4 Foundation Degree programmes and apprenticeships in some vocations which may be an option following the Advanced programme.

All apprenticeships have entry requirements which vary from subject to subject and you will be required to undergo initial assessment before being accepted onto the course.

An apprenticeship is not one qualification but a framework of qualifications designed to ensure apprentices are able to work to the quality standards of their chosen industry.

To apply for an apprenticeship you must be 16 or over. Here are your steps to success!

I am looking for an apprenticeship

Step 1: Look for vacancies on the Bedford College website.

Step 2: If you find an apprenticeship you are interested in, check you meet the criteria and complete the online application form.

Step 3: Your application will be reviewed by our Recruitment Team within 48 working hours.

Step 4: You will be invited in to meet with the Recruitment Team to complete your English and maths assessments and to discuss your application before it is sent on to the employer on the vacancy closing date.

Step 5: After you have visited our Recruitment Team we will keep in contact with you with other available vacancies and support you in finding your ideal apprenticeship.

Step 6: Once you have been offered and apprenticeship you will be enrolled.

I have already been offered an apprenticeship

Step 1: You can either contact the Business Development Team yourself or your employer can with the following information:

  • Name of the company
  • Contact name
  • Contact telephone number

Step 2: A member of the Business Development Team will be in contact with the company to confirm that they have offered you an apprenticeship.

Step 3: We will visit your employer to discuss your apprenticeship and carry out health and safety checks.

Step 4: You will be invited in to the College to complete your English and maths assessments and enrol on to your apprenticeship.
