Networking Home & Small Business (CompTIA Network + external exam optional)
This course will give you a good grounding in the theory and practice of computer networking, and will help you prepare for the CompTIA Network+ certification. The course is ideal if you have completed a PC Essentials course or A+ certification and want to look into networking in more depth. It will provide you with a sound basis in networking principles, which will be invaluable for further study towards CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
As this is a technical course you should be comfortable with using a PC, and preferably have some experience in networking PCs. Previous study on a PC Essentials or A+ course would provide you with an ideal foundation for this course.
This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to configure, maintain and troubleshoot network devices using appropriate network tools, as well as giving you an understanding of the features and purpose of network technologies.
The course will cover the following topics in roughly equal measure:
- Network concepts
- Network installation and configuration
- Network media and topologies
- Network management
- Network security.
At the end of the course you will undertake an assessment test, the successful completion of which will lead to you being awarded a course completion certificate. You may also elect to undertake an optional online CompTIA certification test for an additional fee of approximately £90.

On successful completion of this course you will have the opportunity to undertake further courses within the Microsoft and Cisco cademies at Bedford College.
