Windows Server Administration Fundamentals

This course will give you an introduction to server administration using Microsoft Windows Server 2008, and will build your knowledge of server installation, server roles, active directory, storage, server performance management and server maintenance. The course will also provide you with an introduction to Microsoft certification, which will be useful if you are intending to enter the IT profession.

Entry requirements

To begin this course you should have a good knowledge of computers and the Windows operating system as provided by courses such as CompTIA A+ or Cisco IT Essentials.

Course content

During the course you will study the following modules:

  • Server overview
  • Managing Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Managing storage
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting servers
  • Essential services
  • File and print services
  • Popular windows network services and applications.

Assessment methods

An optional online Microsoft Technology Associate certification test will be available at an extra cost of approximately £45.

Further study and career options

Successful completion of this course will allow you to pursue further courses in Microsoft network operating systems, Cisco networking and CompTIA Network+.
