Technical & Professional Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3

This apprenticeship is aimed at those who have been employed as apprentice site technicians. The Construction Contracting Operations pathway of this apprenticeship will enable you to develop the skills, knowledge and competence required to carry out the duties of this role in the workplace. The programme is designed to cover the skills and knowledge of a wide variety of construction site and office duties, such as estimating, buying, planning and technical support. Our courses have an excellent reputation with employers and help you to develop renewable technology construction skills that will put you at the forefront of the job market.

Entry requirements

Grade requirements:

You will need to have GCSE grades A*- C in English and maths.

Previous construction based qualifications or experience with the construction sector is desirable but not essential.
Other requirements: You must have a keen interest in the technical and professional element of the construction industry

Course content

During this apprenticeship you will study a range of topics, including:
  • Construction and the environment
  • Science and materials
  • Construction technology and design
  • Mathematics in construction
  • Construction technology and design
  • Surveying in construction
  • Computer Aided Drafting and Design

Assessment methods

Assessment will take place in the workplace, through observation and the completion of a portfolio. At college, there are written assignments for each unit, and a selection of exams.

Further study and career options

Further study: On successful completion you could progress on to the Higher Apprenticeship in Construction Site Management at Bedford College.
Career progression: You will have more advanced skills to progress on to a role as a site or office based construction technician.

Additional information

You will need steel toe capped boots, a high viz vest and usual study stationary.
The College part of this apprenticeship will start in September, however you will be able to start the work based learning element at any time throughout the year.
