Guitar: Beginners

These progressive short courses are designed to provide a comprehensive overview of how to learn guitar skills in a range of styles and genres. The course covers all of the main aspects of beginner guitar playing in a fun and informal setting. As you progress through to the Intermediate and Advanced courses you will also learn how to evolve as a guitar player through the use of further chords, scales, songs and techniques, ideal for preparing you for today's music industry. An experienced guitar tutor, who has been trained by London Guitar Institute and has many years of musical and industry experience, delivers the course.

There are no entry requirements for this course.

Course content

This course will introduce playing guitar to the absolute beginner, who wishes to learn how to hold, tune and play the basics of guitar. This will include learning basic chords and scales, as well as some popular yet simple tunes and styles of music. Learners are encouraged to work towards giving a short performance at the end of the course.

Assessment methods

Continuous assessment by tutor.

Further study and career options

On completion of the course, participants will receive a Bedford College certificate. Participants will experience an increase in confidence and self-esteem. Individuals will also develop knowledge and understanding of acting and performing techniques that they may be able to use in their everyday lives. Participants will need to be dressed in comfortable and loose clothing.

Additional information

Students must bring own guitar (acoustic or electric), plectrums, tuners, etc.
