Plumbing Studies City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma

This course is designed to improve your prospects of finding work within the plumbing industry and can be the first step towards an NVQ qualification.

Entry requirements

No formal qualification is required although ideally you should have 3 GCSE grades A-C in English and Maths. You will be required to attend a group interview and sit the College plumbing aptitude test and Basic skills assessments. The basic skills assessment will determine what support, if any, you need to be successful on your course.

Course content

This course will cover:

  • Basic processes and principles used in plumbing (including the application of copper pipe, low carbon steel pipe, plastic pressure pipe and lead sheet work)
  • Maintaining a safe working environment
  • Installing non complex plumbing systems and components.

Assessment methods

You will be assessed continuously by practical assessment and you will also sit national test papers.

Further study and career options

On successful completion of this course, you can progress to the Plumbing Technical Certificate Level 3. An NVQ qualification can be achieved if sufficient work based evidence can be generated.

Additional information

You will be required to wear suitable safety footwear and overalls whilst in the workshop.
